The Bicoastal Beat is an independent news publication covering protests, internet culture, politics, courtrooms, nightlife, art, and the accelerating absurdity of modern American life from both coasts. Reported and written by Los Angeles-based journalist and media artist Lena Weissbrot and New York-based writer Jamie Peck, The Bicoastal Beat documents events on the ground in NYC and LA through firsthand reporting shaped by life inside the cities themselves. From federal court hearings and street demonstrations to underground scenes, online movements, and shifting cultural aesthetics, the publication focuses on the emotional texture and political atmosphere of contemporary America as it unfolds in real time.
Jamie Peck is a New York City–based journalist, writer, and podcaster whose work has appeared in publications including The Guardian, Rolling Stone, Vice, The Village Voice, Paste, Paper, and Broadly. A longtime independent media voice covering politics, internet culture, labor, media, and contemporary social movements, she has also worked as a producer and contributor for The Majority Report and co-hosts the political podcast Party Girls. Jamie’s reporting and commentary blend firsthand observation, sharp cultural analysis, and an understanding of how online life, aesthetics, and political identity increasingly shape the real world.

JAMIE PECK
Lena Weissbrot is a Los Angeles–based political commentator, writer, game developer, educator, and media artist whose work explores internet culture, politics, identity, and contemporary American life. She received an MFA in Design Media Arts from UCLA, where she has also taught animation, video, and interactive narrative courses. Alongside her reporting and cultural commentary, Lena’s on the ground research and reporting directly informs her creative practice, focusing on how online culture and ideology shape behavior, identity, and collective consciousness.
